2)      Press the 0/PRGM key then press the 1/CHAN key within 5 seconds.  You should see “Create/Edit Channel #”

on the top line of the display.  If not press */ESC 3 times.  Then retry this step.

3)      Enter a three digit number for the channel in the range of 001 to 230, i.e. 043 for channel ‘43’.  Press #/ENTER.

This must be a blank channel.  If there isn’t a channel name on the top line of text, you can program this channel.

If there is a text name in the center of the top line press */ESC and retry this step with a different channel number.

4)      Look at the number in the fourth position on the top line.  If the number does not have a bar it, use the 0/PROG key

to toggle the bar on.  This disables the scan function.  Press the #/ENTER key.

5)      You may now enter a seven digit alpha description.  Press the 3/MODE key to enter upper-case text.  Press the

3/MODE key again to enter lower-case text.  Press the 3/MODE key again to enter numbers.  Press the 3/MODE

key again to enter symbols.  Use the up and down arrow keys to scan through available text or numbers.  Once the

first character is entered use the right arrow key and enter the next character.  Continue this procedure until the seven

digit alpha description is complete.  Press #/ENTER.  If you don’t want to label the channel, press the  #/ENTER

key before entering a label.

6)      Enter the Mode of operation: Wide (w), Narrow (n) or Digital (d).  Unless CAP changes, this will be W 99.9%

of the time.  Use the up/down arrows to change the Mode.  When done, press the #/ENTER key.

7)      Now it’s time to enter the receive frequency.  The first digit will always be a 1 and you cannot change this.

Any frequency between 136 and 174 may be entered, in 2.5 KHz steps.  I.E. 154.0025 is valid, 154.0026

is not valid.  Once the seven digit receive frequency has been entered, press the #/ENTER key.  If you make

a mistake entering the frequency simply press the right arrow key to move to the farthest right position.  Then

press the up arrow key and resume entering the frequency.  Once you have the receive frequency entered you
may now enter the transmit frequency.  Enter the transmit frequency in the same manner as you entered the receive

frequency.  If you are going to use the same frequencies to receive and transmit, press #/ENTER twice after entering

the receive frequency.  I.E. 154.3400 #/ENTER 158.5400 #/ENTER would be a repeater but 154.3400 #/ENTER,

#/ENTER would transmit and receive on 154.3400.

8)      When you’ve finished programming the new channel, press #/ENTER four times and wait a few seconds for things

to be saved in the memory.  Once saved the display should show the new channel and label.
